RSPAN, CDP WITH RSPAN Empty RSPAN, CDP WITH RSPAN

Post  Admin Sat Jun 13, 2009 6:19 pm

Hi Friends,

I need a help regarding the RSPAN with CDP.

I have configured the RSPAN TO monitor the traffic on SW1 int f0/6 and the destination port is on SW2 f0/10. both switches are connected through a trunk port channel having members f0/19 and f0/20 at both end.

R6(e1/0)-------->(f0/6)SW1<------------->SW2(f0/10)-------->analyzer

My problem is I am getting the CDP duplex mismatch at SW2 f0/19 with R6 which is not directly connected to SW2.
if i see sh cdp neighbor than SW2 shows to neighbor learned on a same port f0/19 one is SW1 and second is R6.

What I understand is SW1 is monitoring f0/6 and forwarding it to SW2 so it is forwarding the cdp frame also to SW2. is it the default behaviour or am I doing something wrong. Can we fix it without disabling cdp at R6.

SW1
vlan 500
remote-span
!
monitor session 1 source interface f0/6
monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 500

SW2

vlan 500
remote-span
!
monitor session 1 source remote vlan 500
monitor session 1 destination int f0/10

Thanks in advance.
